I’m a twenty-something wedding photographer in Texas who photographs couples who are ready to celebrate their marriage. Building my business has been one hell of a ride, so grab a cup of coffee (or some wine - no judgement here) and join me for my life behind the lens.
Things have been kinda crazy lately. It’s been one of those phases where the to-do list seems never ending and I feel like I’m getting nowhere. Between my own wedding planning, 4 upcoming trips, my day job, and also the studio, there just aren’t enough hours in the day!
When Andrew and I got engaged in December, I already knew who the majority of my vendors were going to be. Working in the wedding world for the past year has given me a leg up in the planning process, and it was really just a matter of signing contracts and paying deposits. Before winter was over, we had booked our venue, photographer, videographer, DJ, bartenders, coordinator, florals and I had my dress. Boom. We were on it! But then we got lazy. Andrew and I didn’t do much else other than take our engagement photos and work out our budget. I mean thats progress, but we still had a lot to get done. We finally kicked it back into high gear this week, and have scheduled catering consultations, picked out invitations and ordered our save the dates! 7 months to go!
2016 has been a year full of travels and adventures for us. I made my way to the east coast for the Hope Taylor Workshop, took a trip to Lubbock, and also went on a cruise…but thats not the end of my travels! This week, we head to Napa to celebrate with Lauren & Ev as they tie the knot! We will spend the week there and then I come home only to get ready for another week long trip to Michigan for training for my day job! Up next is a wedding in St. Louis in September, and then the ShowIt United conference in Arizona in November. Phew! I’m worn out just thinking about it, but I wouldn’t be more thankful for these incredible opportunities!
Summer is (thankfully) a slower time here in Texas – it’s just too hot to be outside all weekend! While I still have some senior and engagement sessions on the weekends, I have been able to spend some time focusing on the business side of things and brainstorm some ways to make the client experience the best it can be. To do this, I’ve been collaborating with some awesome vendors here in town, and have also registered for my first ever Bridal show! While I still think I’m a little crazy for doing a bridal show only a month before my own wedding, I am just so excited to meet some of San Antonio’s brides! Make sure to block off January 8th and come visit me at the San Antonio Wedding Fair!
On another note, last week was a hot week for us in the publishing world! Our gorgeous Cotton & Copper Styled Shoot was featured not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES last week! Is this real life?! A huge thank you to Borrowed & Blue, Wedding Wire, and Lace and Loyalty for featuring my photos! Click on the icons below to check it out!
Even though it’s been crazy and overwhelming at times, life is pretty damn good. We wouldn’t be here without you, so thank you for the love and support as our little business grows!
